HATRED HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CHICKEN OR MARRIAGE

I have been quietly observing the comments related to the southern chicken chain, for a little while now, with a heavy heart and a sense of fear about speaking out. You see, I am not one of those wonderful, beautiful success stories of gay marriage to hold up as an example of the purity of this cause. But...I have thought long and hard and I see that this is not a marriage issue...It is STRICTLY about the marginalization of a group of people by another group of people and the public support of it by individuals that want to see gay people disappear from their societal structure. Plain and simple.

Everyone has the right to believe that they are better than others. Heck, most of us learn, at an early age, the joy of saying..."I'm better than you." Bigotry is that emotion run rampant..."I am better", "I deserve", "You don't deserve", "You can't have." All of these things, though unpleasant, are legal and are everyone's right to feel when they feel.

It is when these feelings begin to apply on the large scale that major consequences occur.

Imagine, if you will, that an American Company in 1941, decided to donate money to Pro-Nazi organizations, yet continued to run their business as "ethically" as possible and within the given laws of the time. YES, that company, if privately held, has the RIGHT to put their money where-ever they chose. But when that information becomes public, think of the greater statement that would be made if Americans began to arrive en-mass to congratulate that company for hating the same people that the Nazi's hate. Think of the fear that such a demonstration inspires. The fear today is no different. There is a clear message being sent by all of these supporters that they would like to see the annihilation of a group of people that they hate.

If you do not believe that these "Gay Haters" want all gay people to disappear, or die, than you only have to read it on their own hand written signs across the country that state. FAGS DIE GOD LAUGHS. This is real. It is terrifying and it is horrible.

I am not making a grand leap, here. If any group of people believes that they know what God wants and believes that they have the right to enforce what God wants because it is God's will...they are dangerous and delusional and should not be given a platform. It is bound to end in something terrible...as history has shown us time and time again. WAKE UP, AMERICA. This is happening NOW. This is not about chicken, and not about my right to marry and/or divorce...it is about a large group of people choosing to publicly display their hatred of another group of people.

The message it sends is terrifying.

  1. Beautifully written... I was offended to find out how many people support hate, and your marriage is no difference from millions of "Traditional" marriages that fail... You have the right to marry whoever you want for however long you want, just like we do. Equal marriage is between two consenting adults, no matter what gender they are...You deserve the same rights as anyone else. I am so ashamed of being a christian today... God loves all his children unconditionally. And so should we...
